The charming Dresden, Ontario is a small, agricultural town with a population of just under 2500 people. This quaint community is sure to quickly feel like home. The small town makes it easy to know your neighbours, get involved in the community, and quickly feel like a local.

A hockey town

Dresden is a town very passionate about hockey. The hometown to NHL player, Ken Houston. Make sure to check out our Ken Houston memorial statue at the Ken Houston Memorial Agricultural Centre. The spot where locals in Dresden celebrate and exercise their love for hockey.

Everything you need

Dresden is a small town with everything you need, including a grocery store, drug store, a cafe, post office, dentist, doctors, medical centre, optometrists, a gym, a municipal centre, churches, and more. A very family-friendly community with both an elementary school and a high school. Dresden is home to many beautiful parks, a boat launch, a casino, and the Dresden race track, with the Sydenham River running through it. Enjoy the small, quaint community while also having access to everything you need.

Home to Uncle Tom's Cabin

Dresden is home to the very special Historic Site of Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Uncle Tom’s Cabin is a site well visited by people throughout Canada. The site pays tribute to the accomplishment of Josiah Henson, a conductor on the Underground Railroad; responsible for rescuing over 115 enslaved people. The site also shares the story of 30,000+ black refugees who fled to Canada along the Underground Railroad, as well as the Black experience in Canada as a whole. The historic site includes the Josiah Henson Interpretive Centre, The North Star Theatre, The Underground Railroad Freedom Gallery, The Henson Family Cemetery, The Josiah Henson House, The Pioneer Church and more.
